This week marks the launch of services funded by Bristol City Council’s new Impact Fund. The Green House and Womankind are delighted to be awarded a multi-year grant enabling the partnership to support over 5,000 people in the next four years.
The Impact Fund was designed to reduce inequality across Bristol and improve residents’ health and resilience. Under this scheme, The Green House will deliver specialist counselling for men and women who have experienced any form of sexual abuse at any point in their lives. Meanwhile, Womankind will be funded to continue providing their flagship helpline and therapeutic groups for women across the city.
Michelle Windle, Director of The Green House, said:
“We know that people who experience domestic or sexual abuse are 15 times more likely to suffer from mental health problems. This long-term funding commitment from Bristol City Council enables Womankind and The Green House to provide a vital combination of practical, emotional and therapeutic support that allows people to choose the right service for them at the critical point when they are looking for help.”
