Our Management Team
Tom Owen, CEO
Tom joined The Green House as CEO in March 2019. His passion to help people access the care and support they need was born out of his experience as a frontline police officer in Bristol’s busy inner-city areas. Since leaving the police, he has held senior leadership, business strategy and consultancy roles in both the charity and ethical business sectors.
Claire Boulton, Development Manager
Claire leads on our funding and communications, sharing news about what we do and working to make sure we have the resources to carry out our valuable work. She joined the team in 2016 after five years working in business development for London-based charity, Solace Women’s Aid.
Emma Bull, Adults Service Clinical Lead
Emma oversees the clinical practice and quality of our adult services team. She has a wide range of experience working with survivors and those who have experienced trauma. She brings expertise in working, developing and managing therapeutic services in multiple settings including the NHS, education and the charity sector.
Emma Reeves, Children and Young People’s Service Clinical Lead
Emma manages the clinical practice of our CYP team and is responsible for the quality of services we provide for children and young people. Emma is an Art Psychotherapist who has worked with children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse and complex trauma for over 12 years, in both the voluntary and statutory sectors. She is registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). She is passionate about creative methods for recovery, is also a supervisor and a qualified EMDR practitioner.
Polly Theedom, Operations Manager
Polly has worked in the voluntary sector for nearly a decade in a variety of different roles, from office management to campaigns, in both local and national charities. Passionate about equalities, organisational systems and the therapeutic approach, she oversees the Admin team here and generally makes sure we are running smoothly.
Our Adult Services Team
Our team of 9 counsellors are all highly skilled, with specialist expertise in working with sexual trauma and an average of 14 years counselling experience between them. They provide counselling from our centre in St Pauls and a satellite project in Taunton.
Our Children and Young People’s Team
The CYP team consists of five creative therapists Josephine, Anna, Lucy, Beth and Tim and two family support workers, Lisa and Anna. They each bring extensive experience in working with children and young people who have experienced trauma. They provide therapy and family support from our centre in St Pauls and also at Knowle West Health Park.
Our Service Administration Team
Service Administrators, Jen, Maddy and Clare provide a vital role in coordinating our services and providing a warm welcome to all our clients.
Our Board of Trustees
A police officer for over 30 years in the Avon & Somerset Constabulary, Steve retired in 2001 having served as Chief Superintendent and the District Police Commander for South Bristol. He is currently the Safeguarding Chair for the Catholic Church’s Clifton Diocese. Steve has been active with The Green House for 15 years. As Chair he leads the Trustees to fulfill our charitable aims.
Dr Cecilia Batten
As a psychiatrist working with adult patients, Cecilia specialises in women’s mental health and its impact on marital and family relationships. Cecilia has extensive experience in psychotherapy having fully completed training in 1985 with the British Association of Psychotherapists. Cecilia joined the Board in 2016 and serves on the Clinical Committee.
A Gestalt Psychotherapist and Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor working with individuals, couples and groups, Hazel has nearly a decade’s clinical experience working with adolescents and adults in charities, schools and private practice. She has a specialist interest in working with trauma and extensive experience working with sexual trauma. Hazel joined the Green House in 2021 and serves on the Clinical Committee.
A barrister with experience working in family law, environmental law and academia. Kamala is a past trustee of other regional charities, a school governor and has acted as a voluntary advisor to a number of legal, women and environmental groups. Kamala joined The Green House in 2015 and serves on the Finance and Resource Committee.
Laetitia is a Chartered Accountant working in Corporate Finance, with a passion for diversity and inclusion. She is our first young trustee and brings a new angle of challenge and innovation to the Board. Laetitia has volunteered with several organisations globally, helping out in an orphanage, refugee camp and with disaster relief. Laetitia joined The Green House in 2021 and serves on the Finance and Resource Committee.
Dr Gemma Halliwell
A mixed methods researcher with a specialist interest in domestic abuse and sexual violence, Gemma brings in-depth knowledge of the challenges faced by providers of sexual violence therapeutic services. Gemma serves on the Finance and Resource Committee.
The Director of Transformation and Improvement for Avon and Somerset Police, Karen has expertise in strategy development and change delivery. Karen specialises in data-driven decision making to advance significant organisational impact. Karen serves on the Finance and Resource Committee.
Dr Alan Rogan
Alan is the founder and former Chairman of Metek plc. He developed the business when Reader in the school of Architecture at Oxford Brooks University when seconded to British Steel to develop new technologies. Alan is a former President of Bristol Breskfast Rotary club and is Chair of Communities and vocations where he actively helps local charities and schools. Alan joined the greenhouse in 2020 as trustee, company secretary and treasurer and brings his knowledge of business and finance to the team
Dr Peter Walker
A Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience, including with adults and children. Peter has a specialist interest in the impact of trauma upon psychological health and the delivery of psychological therapies. Peter serves on the Clinical Committee and provides insights into new delivery methods.
