Small Bristol Charity is winner of winners in Prestigious National Awards
The Green House, a small local charity offering specialist therapy to young people who’ve suffered child sexual abuse, has won national recognition in the GSK/Kings Fund Health and Care Impact Awards not just as one of 10 national winners but also being chosen as the Winner of Winners.
More than 700 organisations applied for this year’s Impact Award which recognises the work of health and care charities and the significant contribution they make. Last night at an awards ceremony in London, The Green House was chosen as a winner of an Impact Award and then was also awarded the Winner of Winners award which brings an additional £10,000 of funding for the Charity and national recognition for the work it does.

The judges praised the charity’s deep commitment to amplifying survivor voices and honouring lived experience, alongside its innovative “whole-family” approach.
An estimated 500,000 children experience sexual abuse before the age of 16*. Research shows that 15% of girls and 5% of boys are affected, with around half of reported offences occurring within the family. The impacts of child sexual abuse are profound and long-lasting, linked to depression, anxiety and eating disorders, and with 73% of survivors living with post-traumatic stress disorder. Yet stigma and silence mean many cases go unreported until adulthood, and statutory services often lack the confidence and skills to respond effectively.
The Chair of Trustees Michele Romaine said: “This is such a special charity doing amazing work in one of the most difficult sectors. We are a small charity but this proves just how valuable we are and it is fantastic to have that recognised nationally. It’s a tough time for charities but I hope this will show just how important it is to keep providing our services. The financial award will help us and we hope encourage others to support what we do.”
I am so incredibly proud of the team at The Green House and all that they achieve in supporting children, young people, parents and carers every day.

I also feel incredibly privileged to have spent three wonderful days with the other winning charities courtesy of GSK & The King’s Fund. Each charity with a shared mission to better the lives of others in all their unique and important ways. To receive this rare opportunity to work closely with other leaders to learn, explore challenges and think together about where we could be heading, was just the most wonderful experience. And today, as I sit on the train homeward bound, reflecting on the brilliance of the presenters, the new relationships that have been built and all that is ‘The Green House’, I feel thankful and extremely proud.” – Becky Parkhill, Clinical Manager
