Winning The 2026 GSK IMPACT Award: A Reflection

Winning The 2026 GSK IMPACT Award: A Reflection
[Our win] represents years of fighting to ensure survivors are heard, believed and supported.
Nat King, Service Manager at The Green House

On Wednesday 13th May 2026, The Green House was chosen from a record number of high-calibre award entries to win the top overall honour at the 2026 GSK IMPACT Awards.

The award is bestowed by global biopharma company GSK in partnership with leading health and care charity The King’s Fund. Clinical Manager Becky Parkhill, Service Manager Nat King, and Research Manager Josh Taylor reflect on The Green House’s success, this incredible moment of national recognition, and what it means for the future.

Becky Parkhill – Clinical Manager

“With support from Amanda Wilsher and Clare Plested, the leaders attended the ceremony with a well-practiced speech focused on delivering impact with authority and energy. Throughout the evening, there was a shared sense of intrepidity which was met with support for each other through encouraging nods and projections of well wishes, as each leader took the stage to deliver their speech.

What later followed was the announcement of ‘winners’ winner’ and this intrepidity changed to tears of joy, pride and utter overwhelm. I could faintly hear the applause from the crowd, but the tears continued at the realisation that we/The Green House had delivered our message, had been ‘seen’ and our work was well and truly understood. This was further embedded as P took the stage and the tears of joy and pride flowed again and again.

For me, this was a perfect way to finish the three days of learning and connecting with thanks to GSK and The Kings Fund and a wonderful springboard for the important work we will continue to do in the service.”

Nat King – Service Manager

“Winning the GSK & The Kings Fund IMPACT Award felt profoundly emotional and validating. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride, not just for the recognition itself, but because it represents years of fighting to ensure survivors are heard, believed and supported. There was a sense of relief in knowing that the work, often carried out with limited resources had been seen and valued at a national level. I feel deeply grateful to the survivors who have trusted us with their stories and to the staff (past and present) who have shown up every day with compassion and care. Above all, it reminded me that “the work” is so much more than one individual and when we can come together we can create lasting impact, influence change and stand beside survivors in a way that can transform lives.”

Josh Taylor – Research Manager

“It’s fantastic to see the hard work and dedication of the team recognised nationally. Child sexual abuse is still so hidden, with 6 in 7 survivors never accessing support. This recognition will help to break that silence, and help us to support more children, young people, and their families.”
